p80 Culture — Life at a B2B Marketing Agency
We cultivate a culture where we genuinely like each other, our clients like us, and we like our clients. Zero boring days, and zero weak links.

protocol 80 Inc. entered the world in 2002 as a way for three Pitt-Bradford sophomores to gain experience. The first p80 client? Zippo. (Yes, the lighter people.)
The founders intended to close the business once they graduated. However, it was doing so well that it became silly to end a good thing. One of those three dudes is still our owner/CEO today.
We saw manufacturing and industrial companies were finally starting to grasp the importance of their digital presence, but had no idea how to address it. And thus we found our niche and true calling in the world.
2002
Three Pitt-Bradford sophomores. First client: Zippo.
2000s
Expanded into search, building authority in technical industries.

Official HubSpot Partner. B2B inbound marketing becomes core.
Today
Diamond Partner. Manufacturing’s go-to digital agency.
Team . 02
We’re a hybrid team of B2B marketing, sales, and RevOps experts with a physical office in northwestern Pennsylvania, plus team members scattered across Western/Central New York, Louisville, and beyond.
Common terms our clients and peers throw around: friendly, laid back, and always willing to help. We all genuinely get along, grab drinks outside work, attend each other’s baby showers, talk smack in fantasy football leagues.
Being honest and doing right by the client and team, even if it goes unrecognized.
A self-motivated contributor delivering consistent and high-quality work.
Expert skill or knowledge and the initiative to continually learn and lead the way.
The client and team enjoy interacting with you; you practice candor with kindness.
The willingness to adjust your thinking, plans, and actions on behalf of what’s best for the client and team.
Process . 03
A hybrid project management framework combining Scrum’s iterative structure with Kanban’s visual flow. We improve efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and adjust priorities on demand.
An efficiency-focused business model that puts the right people in the right roles, aligned with the overall company vision. In other words: we’re trying to avoid chaos.
Team members group into “pods” that serve a dedicated cluster of clients, with specialists across various areas of expertise who help clients and teammates across all pods.
A gaggle of clients? A murder of clients? We prefer “cluster.”
The secret to our success as a marketing agency is built on healthy partnerships with our B2B clients. That shows up in every job description:
About ourselves. Completely unbiased.
Team Voice . 04
I love working at p80 because I am surrounded by so many smart people that it inspires me to get better every day! I feel like I have learned from every person at the agency.
p80 is the only place I’ve worked where leadership has actually been disappointed in me for not taking time off. That’s how seriously we take balance around here.
I’ve always appreciated that, despite not being a partner, I have a “seat at the table.” I’m allowed to voice my opinion and our leaders are super-transparent, even down to financials.
The company is always proactive in anticipating that next industry hurdle. I don’t have to worry that I’m going to be out of a job because we lost relevance.
Leadership and direct reports allow a healthy level of autonomy, no helicopter bosses, but you’re also not alone on an island.
I really appreciate the flexibility. When our daughter can’t go to daycare, I can stay home with her and still get my work done, just with a very energetic assistant.
Everyone at p80 is so willing to hop in and help each other. There is no client issue we can’t solve together, and knowing that you are never truly alone makes even the trickiest issue easier.
Everyone (literally, everyone) is respectful and supportive of each other!
I’ve been granted various fake titles over the years, including “Director of Fun and Leisure” and “Director of Whimsy.” I forgot what my point was, but yeah. I like it here.
